In part 5 of our visit to Cornwall we cycle inland from Padstow, and we dayhike at Port Isaac, Tintagel, Crackington Haven, and Bude. In Bude I try to surf and we gorge on gargantuan scones.
In part 4 of our Cornish hike, we visit two very distinct towns: gritty Newquay, and quaint and upscale Padstow. In Padstow we slurp up oysters at Rick Stein’s cafe.
In part 3 of our Cornish hike, we check out some huge and spectacular sandy beaches. We pass the lighthouse that inspired Virginia Woolf, and we watch a surfing competition.
In part 2 of our Cornish hike we round Cape Cornwall and continue down the rugged coast. We check out mining ruins in Pendeen, and we learn about the legend of a mermaid in Zennor. We celebrate our arrival in St. Ives by visiting a tea room.
